Musical Time Warp

What makes an ordinary holiday trip an unforgettable and remarkable journey you always want to talk about, in other words a vacation worth remembering for ever?

I guess it’s variety, unexpected moods, sharing time with best friends, getting to know other fascinating people, coping with problems, having fun and so on. All those things have accompanied me on my musical path so far and I’m absolutely grateful for that. Not sticking to only one specific genre, but soaking up all the cool things (giving you goose bumps) that other music styles offer keeps me rolling. Whether it's a fat hip hop beat with fluent rap vocals or a supporting pedal steel lick in an easy to sing along country tune or a hammering bass riff in a heavy metal song ... music offers an endless amount of hidden treasures worth being discovered. When I listen to or play music I don't want to obey to genre rules (like THAT DOESN'T FIT TO A ROCK SONG ...) because such an attitude limits me in being hungry for new stuff and ideas. I love to feel the emotions in a specific situation and setting right away.

But, to be honest 'It’s got to be funky or bluesy’.

Aesculap was my first band. Six high school kids having fun covering songs from The Beatles, The Kinks, Fleetwood Mac, America, The Rolling Stones ... and writing their own songs in German.

Isidor started as an instrumental trio performing jazz rock and funk fusion. To bring in vocals former Aesculap musicians later joined the band and we played covers and own funk rock compositions.

After recasting Isidor, Eddy Speed and the Flintstones became the new name of our band. Aiming for more professionalism and trying to lose reputation as an all time high school band we recorded a single (vinyl) with two own compositions. We almost won a record deal taking part in a newcomer band competition on RADIO ZÜNDFUNK with our release Respect (3rd place).

Mind Power was the next step. A hard core soul and funk band supported by a DJ, GoGo girls and visual slide shows. Truly dedicated to James Brown, Bootsy Collins ...

Still using funky elements Simple Service a classic blues-rock formation with drums, bass, two guitars and lead vocals was founded. The band played lots of live gigs in Bavaria and Upper Austria and recorded a demo CD.

After Simple Service disbanded, times were ready for a new exciting and long lasting project called Whiskey for Breakfast. No more electric guitars and basses but unplugged instruments such as acoustic guitars, a five string banjo, fiddle, dobro, mandolin, blues harp, upright bass, cajon, washboard, wooden spoons and other hand percussion instruments entered the stage. For more than ten years the band successfully toured Bavaria and parts of Austria. In 2014 WFB recorded a CD called DOWN HOME

Since 2019 I'm a member of WILD WOOD. For further info please check the WILD WOOD button above.

Beyond that I am a founding member of the Planet Groove Connection an 11 people formation strongly committed to soul and funk. Sadly the band only performs occasionally for temporal and organizational reasons.
